The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service advises:
Stay tuned to local weather stations to monitor your risk of flooding. Be alert for rising water when heavy rains approach.If you see water starting to rise, head immediately to higher ground.Stay away from areas that are flooded, and never try to drive or swim through an area of water.Be very cautious when traveling during flash flooding, especially at night.-- Diana Kohnle
